Camping Locations

One of the most important factors of your camping vacation is the location. You will want to match the location with your needs and desires for your trip. Some spots are very secluded, primitive and rustic, while other spots are closer to restaurants, shopping and people. While some people want to be by a lake, others might want to be near a river or not be interested in water activities at all. Think about what is right for you, look over the options and book a location that suits you. Please ask us if you need any recommendations or help with the process.

Please do not wait until last minute to book a site. Some campgrounds are fully booked months in advance.

kolob reservoir zion camping rental

Kolob Reservoir

Kolob Reservoir is located in Dixie National Forest at the headwaters of the Virgin River drainage. It is one of the more remote camping areas, provides access to unique areas of Zion National Park, and is generally less crowded. There are pit toilets but no potable water. Kolob Reservoir has recently become a reservation required location so make sure to reserve a campsite in advance. Because it is located at a higher elevation the temperatures are cooler even in the hot summer months. If you still get too hot you can take advantage of the beautiful lake by boating or swimming at your own risk; there are no lifeguards on duty.  The reservoir offers trophy trout fishing. Please download the Utah Fishing Guidebook and be sure to read and follow all regulations and restrictions. We require a two night minimum stay to set up at this location, and it works great with our "to go package" equipment with no minimum amount of nights.

Oak Grove Campground

Oak Grove Campground is located in Dixie National Forest at the base of the Pine Valley Mountains. It is a great place to avoid the crowds because it's one of the more remote locations in the area and requires a slow paced drive up a gravel road. Along the drive and in the campground there are stunning mountain views and many trailheads for some great hikes. Oak Grove has a vault toilet, picnic tables, and fire pits with grills. There is no water at the campground so make sure you bring plenty with you. There are also camp sites along the gravel road that are more primitive, but they are currently free.  This whole area is first come, first served so it is best suited for our "to go package" equipment.
